House Shifting Vehicle Guide: Suzuki Pickup, Shehzore or Mazda Truck?
For house shifting in Pakistan, a Suzuki pickup suits a few items or a single room, a Shehzore suits a small flat or one to two rooms of furniture, and a covered Mazda truck suits a typical family home. Large houses and long intercity moves usually need a big container truck or two vehicles. The right choice depends on the volume of your goods, not just the number of rooms, so it is worth checking before you book.
House Shifting Vehicles Compared
| Vehicle | Best for | Things to know |
|---|---|---|
| Suzuki pickup | A few boxes, a single room, a student or hostel move | Small and easy to park, but usually open, so goods need covering |
| Shehzore | A small flat, one or two rooms of furniture, single heavy items | A light truck with a payload of around one tonne, often available with a covered body |
| Mazda truck | A typical family home with full furniture | Comes in several body lengths, usually with a covered container |
| Large container or two vehicles | Large houses, bungalows and long intercity moves | More space and protection, but needs room to park and turn |
How to Choose the Right Size
Rooms are a rough guide, but two homes with the same number of rooms can hold very different amounts of furniture. Count the big items, because they decide the space you need:
- Beds and mattresses: a double bed with its mattress takes up a lot of floor space in the truck.
- Wardrobes and almirahs: even dismantled, wooden almirahs are long and heavy.
- Sofa sets: a full sofa set with a centre table needs its own section.
- Dining table and chairs: chairs stack, but the table top needs flat space.
- Appliances: fridge, washing machine, split ACs and the LED TV.
- Boxes: most homes have more cartons than people expect.
The easiest way to get it right is to send your movers a short video of every room and let them recommend the vehicle.
Why a Covered Vehicle Matters
- Dust: an open pickup on a dusty road leaves a layer on everything.
- Rain: one shower can ruin mattresses, sofas and cartons.
- Sun: heat can damage electronics and warp polished wood on long trips.
- Security: a closed container keeps your goods out of sight.
One Big Truck or Two Trips?
If everything fits in one vehicle, one trip is faster and cheaper. Two trips can make sense when the street is too narrow for a large truck, or when a small vehicle can shuttle goods to a bigger truck parked on the main road. In older areas of cities like Lahore and Rawalpindi, this is common.
Access at Both Homes
- Check the street width and any low wires or overhanging branches.
- Find a spot where the truck can park close to the door.
- Ask about gate entry rules in housing societies such as DHA and Bahria Town.
- For flats, confirm lift timings and whether large items fit in the lift.
Vehicles for Intercity Moves
For long routes, a dedicated covered truck is safer than a shared load, because your goods are handled less and arrive faster. Read our intercity house shifting guide for more.

Shifting Vehicle FAQs
Which vehicle is best for shifting a two-bedroom house?
A two-bedroom home with full furniture usually needs a Mazda truck. If you have only a few pieces of furniture, a Shehzore may be enough.
Can I shift my house in a Suzuki pickup?
For a single room, a few boxes or a student move, yes. For a family home, a pickup means many trips and leaves goods open to dust and rain.
Is a Shehzore enough for a flat?
For a small flat with limited furniture, often yes. Larger flats with full bedroom and lounge sets usually need a Mazda truck.
Do movers provide the vehicle?
Most moving companies, including us, include the vehicle, driver and crew in the quote. Check that the quote states which vehicle you will get.
How do I know how big a truck I need?
Send your movers a short video of each room. They can judge the volume and suggest the right vehicle and crew size. See our guide to choosing movers for what else to ask.
